The dishwasher is a valuable piece of equipment; it can help you not have to wash the dishes frantically and minimize the time and effort required to clean pots, pans, and cutlery. However, it is essential to ensure that your dishwasher is kept clean for it to reach its full potential.
When cleaning the dishwasher, we recommend that you divide the cleaning process into several parts:
- Filter
- Board of Directors
- Washing and maintenance
Dividing the cleaning process will help ensure that each area is thoroughly cleaned and bacteria, food residues, and other debris are completely removed from the equipment.
Filter
Generally, the filter in the dishwasher should be cleaned once a week. By cleaning regularly, you will remove any trapped food, thereby helping to remove any unpleasant odors that may be produced.
To clean the dishwasher filter, you must first remove it from the appliance.
- Remove the lower basket and slide it out.
- Turn the filter counterclockwise to loosen it, and then remove it.
After removing the filter from the dishwasher, place it under running water and scrub gently with a soft dishwashing brush. If the filter shows signs of accumulation of grease residue, we recommend that you wash it with hot soapy water and then gently clean it with a dishwashing brush.
After cleaning the dishwasher filter, let it air dry (approximately 24 hours) before putting it back in the appliance.
Council
The door seal on the dishwasher acts as a splash guard when using the appliance, but this does not mean that it should be ignored during the cleaning process. Instead, it would help if you cleaned the dishwasher doormat and door every week.
Food stuck to the edge of the dishwasher door can cause the gasket to deteriorate, which can cause the dishwasher to leak.
However, cleaning the gasket to keep it intact is not a difficult task. Just wipe with detergent and water solution, and then wipe with a clean damp cloth.
Spray Arm or Sprinkler
Usually, your dishwasher has two spray arms, one is connected to the upper basket, and the other is connected to the bottom; both will be fixed in place by a lock nut, and the lock nut must be removed so that you can remove and clean the spray arm. However, you can remove the upper and lower baskets more quickly before loosening the lock nut.
Take your spray heads out of the dishwasher and the upper basket, respectively, and place them under the hot water tap to clean any debris that may be trapped in the spray armholes, including food. If this debris accumulates on the spray arm, the water will not adequately distribute to the pots and pans, which means they will not be cleaned.
If the hole is still blocked after rinsing the spray arm, please clean the debris with a toothpick, put it back into the product after cleaning, and tighten the fixing nut.
Maintenance Wash
The key to keeping the dishwasher clean and operating at peak performance is to perform maintenance cleaning once a month. This cleaning will help clean and disinfect the internal parts of the appliance, remove mold, bacteria, and odors.
Performing maintenance cleaning is a simple and essential task. First, you need to make sure that there are no pots, pans, or silverware inside. After emptying, set the machine cleaner according to the instructions on the package and put the dishwasher in the hottest cycle to let it run.
After the cycle is complete, could you open the door and let it air dry?
Two tips for keeping the dishwasher clean
Although it is important to clean the dishwasher regularly, following the tips above, you can take some steps to help keep the dishwasher clean and run at peak performance for as long as possible.
These steps include:
- Rinse the food on the plate before putting it in the dishwasher. This will minimize the risk of the filter and spray arm being clogged with food debris, thereby preventing the equipment from being cleaned properly.
- Use rinse aid, dishwasher salt, and detergent according to the manufacturer’s guidelines and your water type.
By taking the time to clean the dishwasher regularly, you can extend the life of your appliance and increase and maintain its efficiency, saving you money in the short and long term. However, you may connect with dishwasher installers if you need any assistance for keeping your dishwasher clean.
