Getting the plans together for your next conference can both be an extremely exhilarating and stressful time. Looking to move tickets and get those already attending excited for the conference itself? There’s a million ways to do that, but having a celebrity host might be the right move for you.
After all, who doesn’t love the idea of having the start of a conference ushered in by a familiar face that guests have always wanted to meet? Obviously they’ll also be there for other reasons, but there’s nothing wrong with having one more reason to be excited.
If you aren’t sure how to do this, here are the best tips to make sure you have exactly who you’d love to host, and everything to make it a smooth experience on their end.
Lock In A Date
This is the foundation to build everything else upon. If you are still in the stages of finalizing when exactly the conference is going to be, don’t reach out to anyone yet. The last thing you want is to realize that Cherie Johnson is a perfect fit, and go through the right channels to get in contact with her, only to tell her your conference might be sometime in the fall.
That’s not going to work for anyone. Have an exact date, or dates if this is going to be a longer conference, and then take it to the next steps.
Browse, Browse, Browse
The internet is your friend, don’t be afraid to spend some time using it. There’s plenty of ways to get in touch with celebrities, but don’t think the most effective way of booking who you want is by directly messaging them on whichever social media platforms you find them on. There’s many sites directly made for this. Seek those out, and don’t just stop at the first one you find.
Consider Who They Are
Before making any contact, spend some time thinking about the purpose of your conference. Is it something academic, or medical? Maybe it’s something regarding the entertainment industry itself. Whatever it’s regarding, can you think of anyone who has been outspoken about the reasons for the conference?
Align Your Host With Your Passion
Doing a little more searching might find which of those celebrities we all now have a passion for whatever your conference is about. There’s nothing wrong if it’s just another job for your host. They’ll still do an amazing job either way but if this is something they are truly engaged in, that’s sure to show to your guests.
Let Them Have Some Control
This might be a little easier if the topic of the conference means something to them, but even if it doesn’t, allow them to do more than just read lines and introduce other speakers. If they are allowed a certain amount of creative freedom, that might be the difference with whether they accept the offer to host or not.
You might be able to get someone, with celebrity status, who is involved in maybe a foundation or charity that is relevant to the conference. They’ll be sure to be thrilled if they are allowed to bring those larger groups into the mix.
